Abstract: The symptomatic triad in the physically abused child diagnosis. The aim of this study is to identify the criteria to establish the diagnosis in physically abused children. We noticed the existence of the traumatic syndrome (known as Sylvester syndrome or Kempe syndrome), with traumatic lesions of different ages (ecchymoses and superficial wounds). The most frequent lesions are located on the face and auricular pavilions, and in any exposed body parts. The lesions of internal organs are the least frequent. Reported to the total number of cases examined, the physically abused children we found in 2.9% of the cases. The positive diagnosis is based on the following tree aspects: different age of lesions, various types of traumatic lesions and behavioral changes.
Keywords: child abuse, Sylvester syndrome, Kempe syndrome
